![]() ![]() Microsoft announced that a new Fable game is in development for Xbox Series X/S and PC in July.įorza Horizon developer Playground has been staffing up for an RPG project for several years and in total around 200 people are understood to be working on Fable at its Leamington Spa studio. I was like ‘Is this going to be just a bunch of medieval fart jokes?’ But the team’s story vision reassured and excited me. “But even so, I wasn’t sure this new Fable was right for me. I loved understanding the how and why of my story choices and seeing the impact I had on the NPCs around me. “It came out the year I started in gamedev, and its the first game I played with a developer’s eye. “Fable holds a special place in my heart,” Megill said on Thursday. A third Rocksteady writer, Kim MacAskill, worked on Fable until March of this year. Megill has been in the games industry for 16 years, working as a writer and narrative designer for companies including Airtight Games, Square Enix, Nintendo, Arkane Studios and ArenaNet. That said, the team in question is very talented, and I’m sure they’ll do a fantastic job.The writer behind Control is joining the Fable 4 development team as lead writer at Playground Games.Īnna Megill announced on Thursday that she’ll start work at the Microsoft-owned, UK-based studio in 2021. Fable is a weird game, and a tough one to deconstruct for a new team. On the other, it is a little curious to get rid of the team that is uniquely expert in making Fable, and then try and make Fable. “On the one hand, it’s great for the UK games industry, and very pleasing that Fable isn’t dead indeed, it will be lovely to play one as a punter, without coming out in hives. In fact, other team members had thoughts on this matter too: “I have slightly mixed feelings,” said Fable co-creator Simon Carter, in an interview. His reply was “There’s nobody here in Brighton that could take on a task of that magnitude.” Since there are some game development studios in the Brighton area, that was a little mean, but then the Lead Engine Programmer probably knows what they’re talking about, so there is that. That wasn’t it though – another user asked whether the new studio was located in Brighton. ![]() He somewhat sarcastically tweeted “Mmm ok, having no inside information, I totally know who’s building Fable 4 now. ![]() One of the Lionhead devs, Don Williamson tweeted about this and then promptly deleted the tweet. We do know that Fable: Wisdom is a little lukewarm though, so we’re hoping for something more inspired. An Xbox Live API leaked and suggested that the new game was called Wisdom – whether that’s a codename or the actual title is unknown. This kind of secret has a way of leaking out of course, and so other evidence was found. ![]()
